I am a native of Fort Worth, Texas and have lived in the Austin area for over 20 years. I attended The University of Texas and received B.S. in Communication Studies in 2003. In 2013, I received a M.S. in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation from Abilene Christian University after completing graduate coursework in the UT Austin School of Social Work.
Prior to receiving my master's degree I worked primarily in public and higher education. My work spanned a variety of roles including high school instruction, academic, financial aid, college and career advising, special projects and family engagement and parent education.
As a guardian ad litem for Travis County Domestic Relations and Family Court Services, I was able to apply my skills as a mediator and my education and social services background to advocate for the best interest of children while decreasing litigation and diffusing familial conflict. My experience and reputation in family court has facilitated a seamless transition to private practice.
As a mediator that specializes in family and divorce mediation, I have a vested interest in helping parties reach an agreement. I am especially committed to facilitating realistic and meaningful parenting plans when children are involved.
Through my work in the field of conflict resolution I have spent the last several years as a restorative justice practitioner and consultant with schools across the state. My work in this area has been primarily focused on addressing alternatives to traditional school discipline in an effort eradicate the school to prison pipeline. In addition to training and consultation, I facilitate community building and harm circles and family group conferences within schools to resolve conflict and restore relationships between educators, students, and families.
My commitment to the community mirrors my professional work. I am actively involved in my church, as a high school mentor, and volunteer with several organizations in the Austin Area including; Impact Austin, I Live Here I Give Here, Black Austin-Mamas, and Black Families of Hutto. I am also a member of the Texas Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, Texas Board of Mediators, Williamson County Bar Association, and Leadership Austin Emerge 2015 Class.
Personally, I am a proud wife and mother of three beautiful children. In my free time I enjoy volunteering, cooking, playing board games with my family, watching movies, and going to the park.
